Learn about how to make cities more smart and green!
At the international conference of the EU funded project SIMPLA, taking place in Trieste, at Area Science Park, on November 28th
New trends in urban energy and mobility planning will be discussed by experts and stakeholders from all over Europe, the upcoming 28th of November, during the final conference of SIMPLA, a collaborative international project in the frame of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme.
The need to find the right balance between energy and mobility demands in the ways of living cities, is at the centerpiece of the scene when we talk about how to improve the quality of our life, by reducing pollution and increasing energy efficiency.
In the last three years, SIMPLA has been helping municipalities to be successful in strategic energy and mobility planning. How? SIMPLA approach is as simple as effective: harmonized and multi-sector planning. In the last three years, SIMPLA has been supporting local authorities in their path towards energy, transport and mobility plans’ harmonization. It provided an innovative, step-by-step methodology and effective guidelines, developed by a transnational team of experts.
Over twenty cities from six countries have actively participated in the project, focusing not only on the know-how, but also proposing concrete solutions to make small-medium municipalities smarter, and achieve sustainable urban planning.
The final conference will talk about this experience and much more. Many topics will be under the lens: policies on sustainable urban mobility, latest trends in urban mobility planning, the influence of climate change in the planning of energy and mobility plans, and others. This is just a snapshot of what is being presented. The agenda also includes interventions by invited guest such as Dimitri Dello Buono, technical Secretariat of the Italian Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Tom Rye, from Edinburgh Napier University and Francesco Musco from Venice IUAV University.
The conference will be an opportunity to gather ideas to spread out SIMPLA’s approach and to encourage citizens to adopt attitudes increasingly aimed to sustainability and green; an occasion to discuss about what kind of solutions we could adopt and listen to those who have already started the path in their own cities.
